Indians scramble to get US citizenship, ahead of the presidential election
With the arrival of the Presidential elections in the US, it is obvious that the number of Indians face fierce competition in the race to obtain US Citizenship. As per the latest survey, US citizens were allotted to over 5.44 lakh foreign nationals in 2018. The numbers are expected to increase by 15 percent for the current year.
With the presidential elections nearing, the interest for claiming for valid Green card in the US has also been on increasing demand. The country also issues Green cards to selected foreign nationals so they can be termed as Legal permanent residents of the US. This is mandatory for any resident who wishes to stay and apply for Citizenship within the US.
As per data collected, within first quarters of the year 2018, over 5.44 lakh individuals had already obtained their Green cards. Looking at the rise in stats, it is certain that 2018 may notice an increase in this number by 15 percent.
As reports say, it was noticed that by 2017 September, nearly 7.07 lakh foreign nationals had obtained US Citizenship legally. So during that time, a decline rate of 6 percent was noticed by officials.
Recent data as per observations and calculations were officially released by USCIS (US Citizenship & Immigration Services). As per the latest statements, NPNA – Advocacy group in the US also expects to offer a minimum of 1 million foreign nationals with legal US citizenship. It is obvious that it aims at more number of people to participate in the ongoing democratic process.
Within the last 2018 period, it is also seen that over 37,431 Indian nationals had obtained and secured US citizenship. This number is at least 7 percent of overall Foreign nationals who obtained valid US Citizenship.
