USB Killer - Indian from Telanaga jailed for 10 years in US
An Indian from Telangana named Vishwanath Akuthota who graduated from College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York has on Tuesday pleaded guilty for destroying around 70 college-owned computers.
Because of it he has been sent to jail for 10 years and will also have to pay fine of $250,000.
He had used a USB Killer device which he purchased online in doing what he intended. A USB Killer, as the name implies, is essentially a cheap USB stick that will completely fry any computer it’s plugged into by rapidly drawing power from the USB port and then discharging it back in quick succession.
He also had made videos before and after destroying the device. In total, Akuthota caused $58,471 worth of damage.
