20th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas
Since 1984, Siachen, one of the world’s highest battleground has observed conflicts between India and Pakistan. The tensions rose in 1999 when Pakistani troops began infiltrating the Indian side of LoC and captured various posts across 130-200 kilometers. India’s response to this animosity was Operation Vijay.
India sent around 2,00,000 troops and recaptured all the previously lost posts and brought a swift end to the conflict. Since then 26th July is observed as Kargil Vijay Diwas. The war left Pakistan humiliated and triggered a series of lies from Pakistan.
Pakistan denied that their soldiers never crossed LoC and any inclusion of its troops in the conflict is a lie. They also call it conflict and not war. Many experts blamed Pervez Musharraf for it.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of our success. To honor 527 martyrs and others who fought, a relay of victory flame, by sportsmen and heroes of armed forces, will be carried from New Delhi to Kargil-Dras Sector. President Ram Nath Kovind along with Army, Navy and Air Force Chief will receive the victory flame at Kargil-Dras.
