Ajay Devgan’s Thoughts on #MeToo
#MeToo movement which was started in October 2017 as a hashtag on social media, deluged Indian film industry last year. Many prominent celebrities were accused of sexual harassment and misconduct. A few were even dropped from the films after accusations.
In his recent interview with Filmfare, Ajay Devgan was asked if working with sexual harassment accused is ethical or not. His thoughts were clear. He said, “There's a difference between 'accused' and 'proven guilty'.
He further added, “One must definitely not work with those proven guilty. But those who haven't been...we can't be unfair to them. What about their families? I know an 'accused', whose daughter was so traumatized, she stopped eating and going to school.”
Ajay was earlier questioned on working with Alok Nath, an accused of rape and sexual harassment, in De DePyar De. He defended himself at that time saying portions with Alok Nath were shot before the allegations were made against him.
On the work front, many of his movies are lined up for release in 2019 and 2020. Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, RRR, Turram Khan and SaadeSaati to name a few.
