Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna has left fans stunned with his striking transformation in the upcoming mythological drama Mahakali, directed by Prasanth Varma. The makers unveiled his first-look poster during Durga Puja celebrations, showing him as Asuraguru Shukracharya, the revered teacher of demons, with glowing eyes and a long beard, standing against a mystical backdrop.
RKD Studios, which is producing the film, described Khanna’s character as the “brightest flame of rebellion in the shadows of gods,” highlighting the intensity and depth the actor is expected to bring to the role. This marks Khanna’s much-anticipated debut in Telugu cinema, a fresh chapter in his versatile career.
Mahakali is part of the expanding Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), which began with the success of Hanu-Man and includes upcoming projects like Jai Hanuman and Adhira. With its grand scale and ambitious storytelling, Mahakali is being positioned as a major cinematic event in Indian cinema.
Khanna was last seen as Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in Laxman Utekar’s period-action drama Chaava alongside Vicky Kaushal. Taking on the mythical role of Shukracharya showcases his willingness to experiment with diverse and powerful characters.
Directed by Puja Kolluru and backed by RK Duggal and Riwaz Ramesh Duggal, Mahakali promises high production values, elaborate visuals, and a compelling storyline rooted in mythology. The poster has already generated a strong buzz across social media, with fans praising Khanna’s unrecognizable transformation and the film’s epic tone.
With this role, Akshaye Khanna is expected to make a lasting mark in the South film industry while adding another memorable performance to his already illustrious career.
