Chinmayi Sripada Slams Actor Sivaji Over Derogatory Remarks on Actresses
Singer and activist Chinmayi Sripada has strongly condemned Telugu actor Sivaji for making what she described as deeply offensive and misogynistic remarks about actresses and their clothing choices. Chinmayi reacted sharply after Sivaji allegedly used abusive language and sexually loaded slurs while commenting on how women in films should dress.
Calling the remarks unacceptable, Chinmayi said such language has no place in public or professional spaces, especially within the entertainment industry. She stressed that commenting on women’s attire using derogatory terms amounts to verbal harassment and reflects a disturbing mindset that continues to plague the industry.
Chinmayi also highlighted the double standards in Sivaji’s statements. While he spoke about culture and morality in relation to women’s clothing, she pointed out that men in the industry freely wear jeans and hoodies without facing similar scrutiny. According to her, if cultural norms are to be enforced, they must apply equally to all genders.
Expressing concern over the support such comments received online, Chinmayi said it was alarming to see regressive views being normalized and even celebrated. She emphasized that cinema sets and media platforms are workplaces, and the use of abusive language against women cannot be dismissed as personal opinion.
The controversy has reignited discussions on sexism, workplace safety, and accountability in the film industry. Many social media users have backed Chinmayi’s stance, calling for greater responsibility from public figures. The episode once again underlines the urgent need for respectful dialogue and stricter standards of conduct in the entertainment world.
