Chiranjeevi Files Police Complaint Over AI-Generated Deepfake Porn Videos
Tollywood superstar and former Union Minister Konidela Chiranjeevi has lodged a formal complaint with the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police after discovering that certain websites were circulating AI-generated pornographic deepfake videos using his name and image. Following his complaint, the police have registered a case under various sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
The case has been booked under Sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act, 79, 294, 296, and 336(4) of the BNS, and Sections 2(c), 3, and 4 of the 1986 Act. The actor also recently obtained an ad-interim injunction from the City Civil Court to protect his identity from unauthorised online misuse.
In his complaint, Chiranjeevi stated that several websites have hosted and distributed morphed pornographic content, falsely depicting him in obscene acts with individuals named “Meenakshi” and others. He clarified that the videos were entirely fake and AI-generated, calling them a grave invasion of his privacy and dignity.
“These videos unlawfully manipulate my facial features and persona into obscene content, causing irreparable damage to my reputation,” he said, urging immediate criminal and technical investigation into the creators, hosts, and distributors of the content. He demanded that all such material be blocked, traced, and permanently removed from the internet.
Highlighting his decades-long contribution to cinema and philanthropy, Chiranjeevi emphasized that these malicious acts tarnish his hard-earned image built through “unimpeachable integrity and social service.” He warned that the unrestricted circulation of such deepfakes poses a serious threat to public figures and ordinary citizens alike.
Police officials have initiated an investigation to identify and act against those behind the creation and spread of the obscene AI-generated videos.
