Complaint Filed Against Rajamouli Over Alleged Remarks on Lord Hanuman
Renowned filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, known for his globally acclaimed blockbusters, has found himself entangled in controversy after the Rashtriya Vanara Sena lodged a formal complaint against him. The complaint was filed at the Saroornagar Police Station, alleging that Rajamouli made derogatory remarks about Lord Hanuman during the title-launch event of his upcoming film in Varanasi.
According to the organisation, the alleged comments deeply hurt the sentiments of millions of Hindu devotees. Representatives of the group said that such remarks contribute to what they perceive as a rising trend of disrespect towards Hindu deities within the entertainment industry. They argued that influential filmmakers carry a social responsibility, and any statements perceived as offensive to religious beliefs must be addressed seriously.
The Rashtriya Vanara Sena demanded that the police register a case and initiate a thorough investigation into the matter. They emphasized that strict action is necessary not only to hold Rajamouli accountable but also to deter others in the film industry from making insensitive remarks in the future.
As of now, the Saroornagar Police have not taken any action on the complaint, and no official clarification from Rajamouli or his team has been issued. Supporters of the director argue that his comments may have been misinterpreted, noting his past portrayal of mythological themes with great respect in films like Baahubali and RRR.
The controversy has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with fans, critics, and religious groups debating artistic freedom, religious sensitivity, and the responsibilities of public figures. While some demand accountability, others view the issue as an overreaction. The situation remains tense as authorities deliberate on the next step.
