Controversy Sparks as TDP's Nara Lokesh Upgraded to Z-Plus Security
The Union Home Ministry has upgraded the security of TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh to Z-plus category, citing intelligence reports ahead of elections. This move, however, has drawn criticism from the ruling YSRCP, with allegations of political motives behind the decision.
Lokesh, previously under Z-plus security alongside former CM Chandrababu Naidu due to Maoist threats, saw his security downgraded to Y category by the YSRCP government. The decision to bolster Lokesh's security comes amidst his complaints of inadequate security during recent Yuva Galam marches, and notably, after TDP's alliance formation with Jana Sena and BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Despite the increased security, YSRCP ministers have taken jibes at the TDP leadership, questioning the necessity of such high-level protection for Lokesh and insinuating political maneuvering behind the decision.
YSRCP Minister Botsa Satyanarayana accused Naidu of orchestrating the alliance with BJP to ensure Z-plus security for his son, raising eyebrows over the perceived disparity in security allocation. Satyanarayana further remarked on Lokesh's need for heightened security in his constituency, Mangalagiri, suggesting it was due to public disapproval and loose rhetoric. The move to elevate Lokesh's security thus ignites a political storm, underscoring the contentious nature of security allocation amidst partisan tensions.
