Delhi Schools Evacuated Amid Bomb Threat; Authorities Label It a Hoax from Suspected Russian Address

Nearly 100 schools across Delhi and the National Capital Region were forced to send students home early today following bomb threats received via email. Despite thorough search operations by police officials, no suspicious items were found, prompting the Home Ministry to dismiss the threats as hoaxes.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena disclosed that the origin of the threatening emails had been traced, indicating that they were likely false alarms. Reports indicated that a single IP address was used to send the emails, with the sender employing a Russian domain for the email address, though the actual source remains uncertain.
Suman Nalwa, a spokesperson for the Delhi Police, assured parents that all necessary precautions were being taken, emphasizing that no tangible threats had been identified. Schools such as Sanskriti School, Mother Mary School, and Delhi Public School were among the first to receive the threats, prompting swift evacuations and disruptions to exams.
In response, some schools, even those not directly targeted, opted to send students home preemptively as a safety measure. Authorities deployed bomb detection teams, disposal squads, and fire service personnel to the affected schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Delhi's Education Minister, Atishi, affirmed that while the threats were being taken seriously, no evidence of danger had been uncovered. Reassuring parents and citizens, she urged against panic, emphasizing ongoing coordination between the police and schools to address the situation effectively.
