Disappointing Pre-Bookings for Diwali Releases

The Diwali releases in Tamil, namely "Japan" and "Jigarthanda Double X," have encountered a lackluster start in terms of advance bookings in Tamil Nadu and the Telugu States. Notably, "Japan" marks Karthi's 25th film milestone, while "Jigarthanda Double X" stars Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in lead roles.
Despite the high expectations associated with these films, they have struggled to generate interest. The promotional content, including songs and promos, failed to create the anticipated buzz, potentially influenced by the pre-festival period. Given the lower-than-expected pre-booking response, positive word of mouth becomes crucial for these films to gain momentum, especially considering the projected subdued opening in all territories.
In an effort to enhance their prospects, the film producers sought and obtained permission for additional screenings in Tamil Nadu, a move sanctioned by the government. "Japan," directed by Raju Murugan, takes the form of a heist comedy with a U/A certificate and boasts an ensemble cast featuring Anu Emmanuel, Sunil, and KS Ravikumar. Meanwhile, "Jigarthanda Double X" serves as a sequel to the 2014 film "Jigarthanda" and has secured a U/A certificate from the CBFC, with a runtime of 2 hours and 52 minutes.
