Performance:
Once again Sai Pallavi steals the show with her performance and this is probably her best performance till date. Kaali Venkat was good in small roles in a few films earlier, but the film, Gargi uses his potential to the fullest.
Kaali Venkat and RS Shivaji have given tough competition to her with their performance and the supporting cast, that includes Saravanan, as the father, Kavithalaya Krishnan, as an overbearing public prosecutor, Livingston, who plays a security guard in the same apartment as Brahmanandam, newcomer Capt Pratap, who adds a touch of humanity to what could have been a typical cop role, shine in Gargi. The rest of the cast including RS Shivaji, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and V Jayaprakash perform good.
Technical:
The story of the film Gargi is very interesting. It is all about the story of a daughter who is trying to save her father. The film tells that no place is safe for a woman. Gargi is an essential movie in this #MeToo era. The film Gargi is also technically strong and Govind Vasantha’s music is the main asset of the movie. Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkatu’s cinematography work and Shafique Mohamed Ali’s editing add to the feeling of realism of society.
Analysis:
The film Gargi gets a lot of things right, with its writing and dialogues and the film also shows how a small change in perspective can make you see a situation differently. The transgender judge is a sign that Kollywood is on the path to handling the subjects very sensitive way. Gautham Ramachandran should be lauded for his work. Gargi is a must-watch movie when it comes to the subject, which is so relevant in today’s world.
