Konidela Siva SankaraVara Prasad, better known by his stage name Chiranjeevi, is celebrating his 64th birthday today. Every year, millions of his die-hard fans, in both the states – Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, celebrate this day as a festival. Several celebrities are reaching out to wish the evergreen star on his special day.
Various hashtags are becoming popular on all social media platforms to wish him. The most trending hashtags are #HBDMegaStarChiranjeevi and #HBDEvergreenMegaStar. The veteran actor is into the film industry for more than 40 years now, but the mass hysteria and the fan following that the star receives till now is commendable.
His upcoming movie SyeRaa Narasimha Reddy marks his 151st film. Being made on a whopping budget of 600 crores, the filmmakers recently released the teaser of the film and it received an amazing response. On the occasion of his birthday, the makers of the film also unveiled a new poster. The star can be seen riding a horse with two bloodied swords behind his back.
Chiranjeevi delved into politics in 2008 and started his political party PrajaRajyam. But, after an unsuccessful political career, he returned to the film industry in 2017 with Khiladi No. 150. This action-drama received a huge success at the box office, and he was praised for his looks and performance in the film. He proved that age is just a factor and he is capable of delivering hits even now.
The Gang Leader actor was born to a middle-class family and his father was a police constable. After completing his education, he joined Madras Film Festival Institute in 1976. With initial struggles, the actor worked his way to become one of the top actors of Telugu film industry. Here are some of the interesting and grossing facts about the evergreen actor –
- Chiru’s movie Swayamkrushi released in 1987, directed by the famous director K Viswanath, was played at International Film Festival of India and Asia Pacific Film Festival. Besides this honor, the movie became the first Telugu film to be dubbed in Russian. It was also screened in Moscow International Film Festival.
- He became the first actor from South India, to be invited in Oscars. He graced the 59th Academy Awards held in LA in 1987.
- His movie Gharana Mogudu, released in 1992, became the first Telugu movie to earn 10 crores at the box office. The movie featured Chiranjeevi and Nagma. It was the remake of Kannada film AnuragaAralithu.
- During the initial 90s, he was even credited as ‘Bigger than Bachchan’ and became the highest-paid actor in the country, when he received 1.25 crores for Aapadbandhavudu.
- He also became the top ten personalities during the 90s, who inspired so many people across India.
- The veteran actor surpassed Amir Khan and took 7 crores for a film and became the first Indian actor to receive such a huge paycheck. Amir Khan took 6 crores for Lagaan in 2001.
- Legendary filmmaker Balachander credited Chiranjeevi of being able to act as well as do action, both at once. He said, “Chiranjeevi has both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan in him.”
