Harish Rao Defends KCR Using Pranab Mukherjee’s Writings; Criticises Revanth Reddy
Former Minister T. Harish Rao strongly defended K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership during the Telangana movement at a Deeksha Diwas event in Siddipet, citing passages from former President Pranab Mukherjee’s books The Coalition Years and The Presidential Years. Harish Rao said Pranab hailed KCR as the leader who achieved Telangana statehood after 14 years of relentless struggle, proving his vision and determination.
Attacking Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Harish Rao accused them of disrespecting the Telangana movement despite never participating in it. He said he personally faced 370 police cases during the agitation, while Revanth Reddy never faced a single one and even refused to resign when BRS MLAs stepped down for the cause. He also questioned former TJAC Chairman M. Kodandaram for supporting Revanth now despite his past position.
Harish Rao recalled that during his ten years as Chief Minister, KCR fought tirelessly for Telangana’s rightful share of water and funds, safeguarding the interests of farmers and workers.
Earlier, BRS cadres organised a large bike rally, and Harish Rao garlanded the Telangana Thalli statue at Kotilingala Temple as crowds chanted Jai Telangana. Activists from the 1969 movement were honoured at the event. Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, MLCs Deshapathi Srinivas and Dr. V. Yadava Reddy, among others, participated in the programme.
Harish Rao concluded by stating that attempts to insult KCR would only strengthen public resolve, declaring that Telangana’s people know the truth and will protect the legacy of the movement.
