'Imitation Not Reliable': Lata Mangeshkar Reacts to Singer Ranu Mondal.

Ranu Mondal, the latest social media sensation, was recently spotted on Kolkata’s Railway station singing Lata Mangeshkar’s famous song ‘Pyaar Ka Nagmaa’ just like the legendary singer herself and the video went viral. She became a social media sensation overnight. When she came on the set, she sang the same song and left everyone in tears. Himesh has kept his promise and has already recorded three songs with the social media sensation, Ranu Mondal.

However, When Lata Mangeshkar was asked about Ranu Mondal, Asia's resident Nightingale expressed happiness but with reservations. "Agar mere naam aur kaam se kissiko bhala hota hai toh main apne-aap ko khush-kismat samajhti hoon (If anyone benefits from my name and work, I feel fortunate).

"But I also feel imitation is not a reliable and durable companion for success. By singing my songs or Kishoreda's (Kumar), or (Mohd) Rafi Saab's, or Mukesh Bhaiyya or Asha's (Bhosle) numbers, aspiring singers can get short-term attention. But after a point, the singer must seek and find his or her own song."

Fans of lataji got disappointed and tweeted various comments like "disagreed" with Mangeshkar and called her "a bit harsh", while another said that this could have been taken in "true spirits by a senior artist like Lataji".
