Jennifer Lopez Files for Divorce from Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are set to part ways again, as Lopez, 55, has filed for divorce from Affleck, 52. The news, initially reported by TMZ and confirmed by People magazine, marks the end of their marriage of just over two years. Lopez filed the divorce papers on August 20 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing April 26, 2024, as the date of separation. She is representing herself in the legal proceedings.
The couple’s relationship, which reignited in 2021 after a 17-year hiatus, began with a surprise wedding in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, followed by a larger ceremony in Georgia on August 20, 2022. There is no prenuptial agreement between them. Lopez’s representative revealed that she is heartbroken but prioritizes her children, Max and Emme, from her previous marriage to Marc Anthony.
Lopez and Affleck, who rekindled their romance after ending their first engagement in 2003, had recently worked together on Lopez’s Prime Video documentary, This Is Me… Now: A Love Story. However, rumors of marital issues began in May, exacerbated by their separate schedules—Lopez promoting her movie and preparing for a tour, while Affleck worked on The Accountant 2 in Los Angeles. The couple’s strained relationship became evident as they spent time apart, listed their Beverly Hills home for sale, and Affleck purchased a new residence. Their separation was further highlighted by Lopez’s extended absence from Affleck, leading up to the filing.
