Keerthy Suresh in Sports Drama!

In July 2018, Zee Studios had announced a film on football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Syed Abdul Rahim is the one who made Indian football team win the Asian games in 1951 and 1962.

The movie is titled Maidaan. Ajay Devgn is playing Syed Abdul Rahim in the film and actress Keerthy Suresh is going to play his wife. This is for the first time that Ajay Devgn and Keerthy Suresh are pairing up for the film. The movie will be directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor. Speaking about the film, Boney Kapoor earlier said that he is wondered after knowing very fewer people knew about Football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Syed’s team had heroes like Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco and Arun Ghosh. Boney Kapoor also called Syed as an unsung hero!

Boney Kapoor felt Ajay is perfect for the role and he can inspire youth to play Football and bring the World Cup home soon. When Syed was coach, the Indian football team won Asian Games in Jakarta in 1962 and reached the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Boney also revealed that the shoot will happen in three places - Indonesia's Jakarta, Italy's Rome and Australia's Melbourne to make the events look true.
