Lavanya Tripathi Defends Chiranjeevi Against Criticism Following Ram Charan’s Twins’ Birth
Actor Lavanya Tripathi has strongly defended her father-in-law, Telugu cinema icon Chiranjeevi, after a journalist criticised him over an old remark that resurfaced following the birth of Ram Charan and Upasana’s twins. The comment reignited debate on social media, prompting Lavanya to respond directly.
Taking to X, Lavanya expressed disappointment over the journalist’s tweet, calling it insensitive and inappropriate. “I usually ignore tweets like this, but I didn’t expect it from you. This is in extremely poor taste, turning a genuinely happy moment into something unpleasant,” she wrote. She further added that critics clearly misunderstand Chiranjeevi’s character and his respect for women, particularly his granddaughters. “Very few men can do even 1% of what he does,” she said.
The criticism stemmed from an old, light-hearted remark made by Chiranjeevi, where he jokingly referred to himself as the warden of a ‘ladies’ hostel’, referencing the number of granddaughters in his family. The comment resurfaced after Ram Charan and Upasana announced the birth of their twins, drawing mixed reactions online.
On February 1, the couple shared a heartfelt Instagram post announcing the arrival of their baby boy and girl. In their message, they expressed gratitude for their growing family and acknowledged the strength of the women in their lives.
Lavanya’s response was widely appreciated by fans, who praised her for standing up for her family and calling out unnecessary negativity during a celebratory moment.
