Mamata’s Biopic to release Before Modi’s Biopic?

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s biopic was stalled by Election Commission, saying that the film cannot be released before national elections, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s biopic is going to be released on May 3^rd, before the elections.

The CPI(M) has written to the Election Commission asking for a stay on the film's release.

"Earlier, the Modi biopic was stopped by the commission. There is one more biopic on Mamata Banerjee, so we feel in all fairness that one should also not see the light of the day before elections are over (sic)," party leader Nilotpal Basu said.

The film is titled Baghini - Bengal Tigress. The film's director Nehal Dutta said the film is for women empowerment, but not for propaganda.

"Be it Sarojini Naidu or a Jayalalitha, they have their own story to tell and it should inspire women all over the country," Pinky Pal, the screenwriter, and producer of the movie said.
