Mannara Chopra Carries Her Father’s Bier in Emotional Funeral Tribute

Actress Mannara Chopra, cousin to Priyanka and Parineeti Chopra, faced an emotional moment as she performed the final rites for her father, Raman Rai Handa, who passed away at age 72 on June 16. His cremation was held in Mumbai on Thursday, where Mannara and her sister Mitali Handa were seen breaking down as they carried their father's mortal remains, defying traditional customs.
Photographs and videos captured the grieving daughters dressed in white, clinging to each other for support during the deeply emotional ceremony. In one poignant video, Mannara can be seen insisting on helping carry her father's bier alongside male family members, a gesture that deeply moved many.
Raman Rai Handa, a respected lawyer at the Delhi High Court, is survived by his wife, Kamini Chopra Handa, and daughters Mannara and Mitali. Kamini is the paternal aunt of actresses Priyanka and Parineeti Chopra. The Chopra family came together in support, with Priyanka sharing a heartfelt tribute on Instagram Stories: “You’ll always be in our hearts. Rest easy Raman uncle. Om Shanti.” Her brother, Siddharth Chopra, also paid tribute, reposting Mannara’s statement with a simple message: “Will miss you Raman uncle.”
Mannara’s strength in grief, particularly her breaking of patriarchal norms by carrying the bier, has earned her public admiration.
