National Film Award For Best Actress Goes To Keerthy Suresh!

The 66th National Film Awards were announced on 9th August. Rahul Rawaii, the head of the jury for feature films, announced the awards. This year, 419 films competed for awards. The awards are given in 31 categories. A new award for the film-friendly state was introduced this year. Uttarakhand won this award this year.
The best actress award was given to Keerthy Suresh for Mahanati. Congratulatory messages and praises flowed in for the actress from the film industry and fans. Mahanati was a bilingual film shot in Telugu and Tamil. The movie was based on the life of Indian yesteryear actress Savitri, her rise to prominence, betrayal from her husband, Ganesan, and then her fall from grace.
Keerthy Suresh started acting as a child artist in 2000s. She is the daughter of film producer Suresh and actress Menaka. She made her debut as a lead actress in 2013, in a Malayalam film Geethaanjali. She made her debut in Telugu film industry in 2016 with Nenu Sailaja.
On the work front, Keerthy was last seen in Manmadhudu 2 in a cameo appearance, which was released last Friday. She portrayed the role of an ex-girlfriend of Nagarjuna. The film received mixed reviews from audiences. She will be seen next in Malayalam movie Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham. It is the most expensive Malayalam film ever made with a budget of Rs.100 crore. The film is directed by Priyadarshan.
