Rashmika Mandanna Becomes Cyber Safety Ambassador After Deepfake Incident
Actress Rashmika Mandanna, who became a victim of a deepfake video earlier this year, has been appointed as the National Ambassador for Cyber Safety by the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), under the Ministry of Home Affairs. In her new role, Rashmika aims to raise awareness about cybercrime and promote safer digital practices.
Having experienced the impact of cybercrime firsthand, Rashmika said, "Cybercrime is a dangerous and pervasive threat affecting individuals and businesses globally. I am committed to promoting cyber safety and driving positive change." She will lead nationwide campaigns aimed at educating the public on various cyber threats such as online fraud, cyberbullying, and the dangers of AI-generated content like deepfakes.
The actress’s experience with a deepfake video prompted discussions about the misuse of technology, with several celebrities voicing their concerns. Rashmika, a prominent figure in South Indian cinema and featured in Forbes' 2024 "30 Under 30" list, gained widespread recognition from her role in "Pushpa: The Rise."
She continues to shine in her career and will soon appear in "Pushpa: The Rule" and the historical epic "Chhaava," alongside Vicky Kaushal.
