Sandhya Theatre Tragedy: Allu Arjun Seeks High Court Intervention Over FIR
Actor Allu Arjun has petitioned the Telangana High Court to quash the FIR registered against him following the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre on December 4. The incident, occurring during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2 – The Rule, led to one fatality and critical injuries to another.
The FIR (Crime No. 376/2024) was lodged by a complainant alleging overcrowding and suffocation caused by the surge of fans upon Allu Arjun’s arrival at 9:40 PM. The complainant claimed the actor’s presence, along with his security team’s actions, exacerbated the situation.
In his plea, Allu Arjun denied liability, arguing that his presence alone could not be construed as criminal negligence. His legal team emphasized that all necessary precautions, including coordination with the police and theatre management, had been taken. They cited prior communication with authorities and a formal request by the theatre for additional security due to expected VIP attendees.
Allu Arjun asserted that his attendance at premieres was routine and had never resulted in such incidents. He requested the court to dismiss the FIR, as no direct connection between his actions and the tragedy could be established. The High Court is expected to review the petition this week.
