Shah Rukh Khan’s Emotional Plea for Aryan Khan’s Bail Case

When Aryan Khan was arrested in a drug-related case in October 2021, Shah Rukh Khan went to extraordinary lengths to secure his son’s release. Although Aryan was cleared in 2022, his nearly month-long jail time was a painful phase for SRK. In a recent interview, senior lawyer Mukul Rohatgi, who eventually argued Aryan’s bail case, revealed how he initially refused to take it. At the time, Rohatgi was on holiday in London and reluctant to interrupt his break, especially amid Covid restrictions.

Even after receiving a personal call from Shah Rukh, he refused. However, SRK pleaded to speak with his wife, explaining his desperation not as a superstar but as a father. Moved by his emotional request, Rohatgi’s wife persuaded him to take the case. Shah Rukh even offered him a private jet, which he declined, choosing instead to fly commercially. Rohatgi recalled that SRK stayed in the same hotel as him in Mumbai, personally prepared notes, and actively discussed strategies with the legal team.

After two to three half-days of arguments, Aryan was granted bail, and Rohatgi returned to England to finish his holiday. He stressed that, legally, it was a “regular bail matter” that drew attention only because of Shah Rukh’s celebrity status. Recently, Aryan Khan referenced his arrest with humor in his debut show The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, joking about being jailed without reason.
