Tips On How To Prepare For A US Student Visa Interview

Even though the US embassy website provides all the information you will need to apply for an F-1 visa, it is always comforting to hear from students who have gone through the process themselves.
‘Do mock interviews.’
One of the reasons students may fail to get their student visa could be due to insufficient justification for choosing a particular course or university.
In an interview with ThePrint last month, US Embassy in New Delhi Don Heflin, Minister Counselor for Consular Affairs said that indian students preparing for their visa interviews should have a quick summary about themselves and be prepared to talk about why they want to study at their chosen university, quickly and succinctly.
“Maybe one evening, there was a conversation around the kitchen table where you and your parents decided where you wanted to go and why. Tell us that,” Heflin was quoted saying. “Just repeat that to us. That’s what we want to hear.”
Proving your purpose of coming to the US
During the interview, visa officers determine if you are coming to the US to study or for another reason. As a result, you must prove that you plan to return to India after completing your studies rather than for immigration purposes.
You can prove your ties to your home country through family ties, dependents waiting for you back home, or even employment there.
Don't leave your preparations to the last minute if you want to increase your chances of obtaining your US student visa. Start your research early and prepare the necessary documents.
