Vijay Deverakonda Rejects Hindi Debut in Ranveer Singh starrer '83'
Thanks to Janhvi Kapoor for introducing the Hindi film audience to supremely ‘talented’ Telugu actor Vijay Deverakonda on Koffee With Karan 6.
Turning down a plum role in the Hindi film ’83, starring Ranveer Singh and being directed by Kabir Khan, Vijay Devarakonda, who has had spectacular run at the Telugu box office in 2018, refuses to debut in a film that “already stars Ranveer”. The movie recreates the events leading up to India’s victory in the Cricket World Cup in 1983 in which Ranveer features as Kapil Dev.
Known for his work in films like Geetha Govindam, Mahanati, NOTA, Vijay rose to fame with his role in Arjun Reddy, a remake of which is being made in Hindi starring Shahid Kapoor in the lead.
Various other big stars are being approached to feature as the cricketers in the 1983 World Cup but as for the South actor, it was an offer that he politely declined.
Says a source close to Vijay, “Right now, he’s very busy with his commitments in Telugu. Vijay is, of course, looking forward to a Hindi film debut. But not in a film that already stars Ranveer Singh. No prizes for guessing who would have the most important role in the film.”
