Who Are the 1,800 Special Guests Invited to the Independence Day Event at Red Fort?

On the auspicious occasion of India's 77th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unfurl the tricolor flag at the iconic Red Fort in Delhi on August 15th. To commemorate this event, the Central Government has extended invitations to a diverse group of 1,800 individuals from various professions and walks of life. This unique assembly of guests holds special significance in the celebrations.

Among the distinguished attendees, a notable 400 sarpanches representing 660 villages have received special invitations, marking their crucial roles in rural governance. Additionally, 250 individuals who are part of the Farmer Producer Organizations Scheme, 50 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, and another 50 recipients of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana have been cordially invited to join the festivities.

Fifty participants each from distinct spheres, including construction workers, khadi artisans, contributors to the construction of border roads, the Amrit Sarovar initiative, the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, and those engaged in the creation of the Central Vista project, including the new Parliament building, are among the honored guests attending the Choppuna ceremony. Adding to the rich tapestry of attendees, an additional 50 primary school teachers, nurses, and fishermen have secured their place in this momentous Independence Day event.

The Ministry of Defense has affirmed that the inclusion of these common individuals aligns with the government's Jan Bhagidari vision, fostering a sense of shared participation. The symbolism of unity and diversity continues as 75 couples from each state and union territory have been gracefully invited to witness the ceremony at the Red Fort, donning their traditional attire.
