YSRTP chief YS Sharmila became ill on Sunday while touring the Khammam district. The recent untimely rains caused extensive damage to crops in many areas. YS Sharmila, leader of the YSRTP and younger sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has begun a program to assist farmers in the Khammam District who have lost their crops due to the recent floods. This morning she went to check on the crop damage suffered by local farmers. She enquired about crop damage by speaking with farmers.
YS Sharmila suddenly fainted and complained of pain while chatting with local farmers. But thanks to the quick thinking of the locals, Sharmila made a full recovery. She apparently got sick from too much sun. YS Sharmila was checking the damage to crops when the incident occurred while she was speaking to the media.
Heavy rains have fallen for the past week in the state of Telangana. The farmers have taken a major hit from the untimely rains. The farmers are upset because their crop was damaged during harvest. Authorities are looking into crop damage in 27 of the state's judicial districts. An initial assessment suggests the crop was lost on approximately 4.5 lakh acres.
