1,365 IAS and 703 IPS positions are open.
The Rajya Sabha was told on Thursday that there are 1,365 openings in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 703 openings in the Indian Police Service (IPS).
In addition to these, 1,042 positions are open in the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and 301 in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), according to a written response from Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh. "Vacancies continually appear, and their filling is a constant process. The federal government makes an effort to quickly fill such positions, he added.
Every year, he added, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) holds the Civil Services Examinations (CSE) to fill openings in the civil services, such as the IAS, IPS, IFS, and IRS, via direct recruitment. The minister said that the Union Public Service Commission meets with state governments to form selection committees to fill openings in the IAS and IPS promotion quota.
