AAP Condemns Harassment Incident Involving Swati Maliwal at Chief Minister's Residence

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faced criticism following reports of harassment against Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal by Arvind Kejriwal's personal assistant at the Delhi Chief Minister's residence. National General Secretary of the TDP, Sanjay Singh, denounced the incident as "highly condemnable" and assured Chief Minister Kejriwal of strict action.

According to Singh, Maliwal was waiting for a meeting with Kejriwal when the incident occurred. He emphasized Kejriwal's acknowledgment of the situation and commitment to taking decisive action. Singh praised Maliwal's contributions to the party and affirmed their support, promising to address the issue seriously.

The BJP swiftly criticized Singh's statement, questioning the delayed response and demanding immediate action. Delhi BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva denounced the incident as shameful and called for accountability.

The incident sparked widespread condemnation and scrutiny, with the National Commission for Women initiating an investigation and demanding a report from Delhi Police within 72 hours.

Delhi Police confirmed receiving calls from Maliwal's phone number reporting harassment at Kejriwal's residence. However, despite visiting the police station, Maliwal did not file a formal complaint.

The political fallout escalated, with BJP and Congress councillors demanding action and even calling for Kejriwal's resignation. This development adds to the ongoing confrontation between AAP and BJP over alleged corruption charges related to the Delhi liquor policy.

Despite being part of the INDIA bloc, AAP and Congress's sharp reactions underscored growing tensions, complicating their united front against the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
