AIMIM Launches Statewide Campaign for Telangana Municipal Elections
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has officially launched its campaign for the upcoming municipal elections across Telangana, with party president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi leading outreach programmes in several districts. The party is banking on its past electoral performance in Telangana and recent successes in Maharashtra and Bihar to strengthen its prospects.
Over the last three days, Asaduddin Owaisi toured areas including Tandur, Nalgonda and Sangareddy, where he interacted with local residents and addressed public gatherings. Party leaders said the campaign is focused on highlighting AIMIM’s track record in local governance and addressing civic issues at the grassroots level.
AIMIM floor leader in the Telangana Assembly and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi is set to join the campaign from Wednesday. He will address a public meeting in Mahabubnagar, which is expected to draw a large turnout. Party cadres have been mobilised across districts to ensure strong public participation.
The AIMIM has previously maintained a notable presence in municipal corporations such as Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Karimnagar, and has secured several seats in municipalities including Vikarabad, Tandur and Bhainsa. The party has also performed well in recent local body elections in Telangana.
Adding to the morale of party workers is AIMIM’s improved performance in Maharashtra municipal polls and its success in winning five seats in the recent Bihar Assembly elections. Party leaders say these victories have energised cadres and reinforced confidence as the campaign gains momentum across Telangana.
