AP Minister Nara Lokesh Engages Top Tech Leaders to Drive IT, AI, and Manufacturing Investments in Andhra Pradesh
In a bid to attract tech investment and enhance the digital landscape of Andhra Pradesh, IT and Human Resources Minister Nara Lokesh met with prominent Indian-origin business leaders in the United States, including Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, and Apple Vice-President of Operations Priya Balasubramaniam. Lokesh's discussions centered around potential collaborations in artificial intelligence, agritech, e-governance, manufacturing, and IT hub development.
During a meeting at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, Lokesh invited Satya Nadella to Andhra Pradesh, aiming for Microsoft’s support in strengthening the state’s e-governance and establishing new IT hubs. Nadella, whose father held various official roles in Andhra Pradesh, appreciated the opportunity, sharing that Microsoft—currently valued at $3.1 trillion—has achieved significant advancements in cloud computing, software, and enterprise technology. He highlighted Microsoft’s record earnings of $211.9 million in fiscal year 2023.
Lokesh emphasized the transformative IT advancements achieved in Hyderabad under the leadership of N. Chandrababu Naidu, expressing that Andhra Pradesh is following a similar path by developing innovation parks and IT hubs to make the state a digital and cloud computing powerhouse. He also proposed establishing an AI university in Amaravati to support tech-driven smart city projects, urging Microsoft’s partnership in this vision. Nadella committed to supporting Andhra Pradesh’s goal of becoming a leader in artificial intelligence.
In San Francisco, Lokesh met with Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, discussing potential Adobe investments in R&D facilities in Andhra Pradesh. Lokesh invited Adobe to support the state’s youth in building digital skills, particularly in AI-driven solutions for smart governance. Narayen, whose company holds a market cap of ₹17.9 lakh crore, expressed keen interest, noting that a final decision would follow further discussions with Adobe’s partners.
Lokesh also met Apple’s VP of Operations, Priya Balasubramaniam, encouraging Apple to expand its operations in Andhra Pradesh. Highlighting the skilled talent pool and business-friendly policies of the state, Lokesh assured that Andhra Pradesh is fully prepared to provide Apple with all necessary support to establish manufacturing units.
The meetings mark Andhra Pradesh’s proactive approach to building strategic partnerships with global tech leaders, signaling new opportunities for IT innovation, manufacturing, and AI development across the state.
