Amaravati Bandh: AP Farmers Protest Against Three Capitals Move

Farmers in Andhra Pradesh have engaged themselves in a strike and protest against the decision of shifting the capital from Amaravati. Thursday night saw a huge crowd of people, especially farmers, who took it to the streets, protesting against Jagan’s three capital idea.
Police patrolled overnight and tried hard to make the situation normal as farmers had stayed back the same day. Police had removed the tents and shouted at the farmers to go back. However, the farmers and their families, who had been staging a dharna during the day, refused to budge.
One of the farmers said that the Chief Minister should keep his word and not shift the state capital from Amaravati. Otherwise, he should return their lands in their original shape.
Jagan had put the idea of having three capitals for AP as Amaravati, Vishakapatnam, and Kurnool. They had set a committee up to look into the matter and provide its report by the latest. The report was submitted on Thursday specifying that Amravati to be made the Legislative capital.
Farmers of the 29 villages took to the streets blocking roads with tractors and other vehicles since morning. State government employees proceeding to Secretariat were stopped and their vehicles were blocked.
