Amaravati Is Unviable; Vizag Will Compete With Hyderabad In 10 Years: Andhra CM

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday defended his idea for why should the administrative state capital
He said that it cost around ₹1.09 lakh crores to develop basic infra in Amaravati while Visakhapatnam can be developed as the capital by spending only 10% of this amount. He also said that the state doesn’t have much financial support for now and it would be much better to decentralize the capitals.
“I have done what a father would do. I am given the responsibility of being the father of the state. I have down my fatherly duty to the best of my ability,” Reddy said.
He went onto say that his decision will only do good for everyone and if he hadn’t taken the decision, it would have severely affected the generations coming further. Talking about Chandrababu, he said that his government spent only around ₹5670 crores on Amravati and if it would have to continue spending the same, then the state would have no proper capital even after five years.
Jagan Mohan Reddy had put forward an idea of having three capitals of the state two months ago. Vishakapatnam to be made executive capital, Amravati to be made Legislative capital and Kurnool to be the judicial one.
