Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu Seeks Central Support for State Development, Presents Vision 2047
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and key cabinet ministers during his visit to New Delhi, expressing gratitude for the financial assistance extended to complete the Polavaram irrigation project and the Amaravati capital city initiative.
In a 45-minute meeting at PM Modi's residence, Naidu discussed the state’s development programs, financial challenges, and ongoing projects. He highlighted his government’s efforts to resume stalled work on Polavaram and Amaravati, thanking the Prime Minister for his support.
Naidu criticized the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government for mismanaging funds, which affected 94 centrally sponsored schemes. He informed PM Modi that his administration had successfully relaunched 74 of these schemes and requested additional financial assistance to mitigate the fiscal damage caused by the earlier regime. Naidu also pointed out that revenue deficit grants intended for five years had been exhausted within three years under the previous government.
The Chief Minister sought Central cooperation for establishing an ArcelorMittal steel plant in Andhra Pradesh, requesting help in securing raw materials and necessary permissions. He also presented the Swarna Andhra Vision 2047 document, outlining the state’s long-term development goals. Naidu emphasized the importance of Central support to achieve these objectives and briefed the Prime Minister on upcoming projects and foundation stone ceremonies planned for next month.
In separate meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Naidu discussed the state’s financial condition and sought the release of funds under various Central schemes. He urged additional assistance to accelerate Andhra Pradesh’s recovery and development efforts.
As part of his engagements, Naidu also attended the NDA meeting at BJP President JP Nadda’s residence, underscoring his party’s continued collaboration with the Central government to ensure the state’s growth and progress.
