Andhra Pradesh Sets Bold Educational Goals, Honours Teachers on National Education Day
At the National Education Day celebrations in Vijayawada on November 11, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the critical role of teachers in advancing Andhra Pradesh’s ambitious goals, including ‘Swarna Andhra,’ ‘One Family, One Entrepreneur,’ and becoming a ‘Knowledge Hub.’ Naidu called for a continuous learning approach, encouraging teachers and students to embrace lifelong education. “There is an opportunity to learn from everyone and everything. Those who never stop learning will find success,” he stated.
Naidu also addressed the need for population awareness, humorously suggesting a policy where only those with over two children could run for office. Stressing the importance of language balance, he advocated for innovative teaching methods and equal emphasis on English and Telugu in education.
Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh praised teachers for their community contributions during the Budameru floods and underscored the government’s commitment to educational excellence. Lokesh set a goal for Andhra Pradesh to become a national leader in school education within three years, aiming for a top ranking in the National Institutional Ranking Framework and an AP university among the world’s top 100. Unlike past administrations, Lokesh highlighted the current government’s directive against featuring leader photos in educational materials to keep the focus purely on education.
The event concluded with Naidu, Lokesh, and Ministers Y. Satya Kumar Yadav and Kollu Ravindra honoring 164 educators as ‘Best Performing Teachers,’ awarding each a cash prize of ₹20,000, a shawl, and a medal.
