Andhra Pradesh Targets $2 Trillion Economy by 2047, Unveils Viksit AP-2047 Action Plan
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Tuesday that the state is aiming to become a $2 trillion economy by 2047, with a targeted annual growth rate of 15% in its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). This ambitious goal is part of the state's "Viksit Andhra Pradesh-2047" action plan, aligned with the Union government’s "Viksit Bharat-2047" agenda.
The announcement was made during a meeting with NITI Aayog representatives at the state secretariat in Amaravati, where the modalities for formulating the Viksit Andhra Pradesh document were discussed. The state’s Chief Secretary, Neerabh Kumar Prasad, has indicated that the vision document is expected to be unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
"The Viksit Andhra Pradesh-2047 initiative will be an integral part of the Centre’s Viksit Bharat-2047 mission," Prasad stated during a recent meeting with senior officials.
Chief Minister Naidu outlined that the Vis document would focus on poverty eradication and comprehensive state development. The strategy will follow a macro-to-micro approach, with broad state-level strategies complemented by district-level and Mandal (block-level) vision documents. These district-level plans will serve as provisional development frameworks and will be updated every five years.
Naidu emphasized the government's commitment to transforming Andhra Pradesh into a hub for high-value agri-processing, industries, logistics, and renewable energy. He also highlighted plans to enhance youth skills and employment readiness. Furthermore, the state aims to develop into an international tourist destination and create modern medical facilities, making Andhra Pradesh a role model for digital governance and economic growth in India.
