Andhra Pradesh Unveils 'AP Vision 2047' for Sustainable Growth
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is set to release the 'AP Vision 2047' document on October 2, aiming for a 15% growth rate in each district, announced Peeyush Kumar, principal secretary of finance. The document, which focuses on 12 priority areas, outlines four main objectives: eradicating poverty, developing social and physical infrastructure, managing demographics, and enhancing the ease of living.
During a collectors' meeting on Monday, Peeyush Kumar explained that Niti Aayog officials will meet with state government departments from September 6 to 8 to gather suggestions and opinions, with the final document being open for public feedback from September 1 to 15. Currently titled 'Vikasit Andhra Pradesh' (Developed Andhra Pradesh), the name is subject to change based on public suggestions.
Special principal secretary of the forest department, G. Anantharam, highlighted the need to increase the state's forest cover. He noted that while sapling planting was previously part of the rural employment guarantee scheme, it had been discontinued in the last four years. The forest department plans to restart the afforestation program on a large scale, with a seed distribution initiative costing ₹13.5 crore and a target of 50 lakh seeds to be planted in each district under collectors' supervision.
K. Harshavardhan, secretary of the minority welfare department, provided demographic data, noting that Andhra Pradesh's population is 493.87 lakh, with 43.46 lakh belonging to minority communities. He shared details about the state-wide Waqf land survey and the action plan for 2025-2027.
K. Kannababu, secretary of social welfare, tribal welfare, and panchayat raj department, presented data on pre-matric and post-matric hostels and residential schools, outlining the social sector objectives for the coming year. P. Bhaskar from the general administration department reviewed the status of BC welfare, while A. Surya Kumari, secretary of women, child welfare, and disabled welfare department, and Siddharth Jain, commissioner of the civil supplies department, along with other IAS officers, discussed the progress and status of their respective departments.
