Andhra Railway Disaster: 6 trains are rescheduled and 33 are cancelled
After two trains crashed in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, leaving thirteen people dead, as many as thirty-three trains have been canceled and six more rescheduled as of right now, East Coast Railway authorities announced on Monday.
Following the collision between two passenger trains between the Kantakapalle and Alamanada Stations of the Waltair Division, 33 trains have been cancelled, 24 have been diverted, and 11 have been partially cancelled, according to BiswajitSahu, Chief Public Relations Official, East Coast Railway, Bhubaneshwar.
According to him, two of these have been rescheduled for today morning and three of them have been canceled.
In the Vizianagaram region of Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday evening, a Visakhapatnam-Ragada passenger train collided with another Visakhapatnam-Ragada train that was traveling along the same route, resulting in at least 13 fatalities and several injuries.
The passenger train traveling from Visakhapatnam to Palasa and from Visakhapatnam to Ragada collided in the back. The collision included three carriages. Rescue efforts have begun, and the NDRF and local government have been notified to provide support and ambulances. The Divisional Railway Manager reported that accident relief trains had arrived at the scene.
