Army GOC Discusses Flood Relief and Ex-Servicemen Welfare with Andhra CM
On September 27, Major General Rakesh Manocha, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (TASA), met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu at the AP Secretariat. The meeting centered on the recent flood relief operations carried out by the Indian Army in Vijayawada and Kakinada, as well as the welfare of ex-servicemen in the state.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Indian Army for their swift action during the Budameru Canal breach in Vijayawada, which resulted in severe flooding due to heavy rains and posed a significant risk to the local population.
Major General Manocha also highlighted concerns regarding the well-being of ex-servicemen in Andhra Pradesh. In response, CM Naidu assured him of the government's commitment to addressing these issues.
Following the meeting, the GOC visited the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) in Amaravati, where he was briefed by the Managing Director of the AP State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) on the state’s disaster response mechanisms.
Later, Major General Manocha proceeded to Guntur, where he inspected the Unit Run Canteen, the ECHS Polyclinic, and the Army Recruiting Office, underscoring his focus on the welfare and operational readiness of the state's military infrastructure.
