BJP to Rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Telangana Raja Singh said that Hyderabad will be renamed as Bhagyanagar if BJP wins Telangana Assembly elections 2018.
He explained that the name Bhagyanagar was changed into Hyderabad in 1590, when Quli Qutub Shah came to Hyderabad. At that time, many Hindus were attacked and many temples were destroyed.
"In Telangana, BJP will win majority and then our first aim will be developing the state. We will also change the names of Secunderabad and Karimnagar”, MLA said.
A few days ago, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath renamed Allahabad as Prayag Raj. Later during Deepotsav 2018 celebrations in Ayodhya, he announced that Faizabad district will be known as Ayodhya. Also, they are going to change the name of Ahmedabad to Karnavati.
But it seems changing the name of Hyderabad is not so easy as there are considerable number of Muslims are already residing there. Also, AIMIM and KCR who has a good fan base of Muslims in the state, will also oppose the decision.
The changing of names shows clearly that BJP is promoting Hindutva. But changing the names will gain them anything, like winning the elections? Let’s wait and see.
