BRS: KCR is training his sights higher!

Another political party appeared on the national horizon - The BRS( Bharat Rashtra Samiti), a rechristened Avatar of the 2-decade old regional party, Telangana Rashtra Samiti. The party promises to be a major force when the next Lok Sabha elections are about 18 months. CM K. Chandrasekhara Rao announced his intent to play a role in national politics.
Following the October announcement to create BRS, KCR backed it up by opening a party office in Delhi early this month and there met with M.P.s from various political outfits, including some prominent leaders like former CMs Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and H.D. Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (Secular).
During this week of December, the BRS would come up with its agenda for the Nation amid its commitment to be the voice of the farmers. Taking a cue from the popular slogan coined by the BJP in the 2014 elections, the BRS declared, "Aab Ki Baar, Kisan Sarkar".
The party's Kisan Cell has been headed by farmer leader Gurnam Singh. In the run-up to the next general election, the BRS plans to establish offices in other states over the next few months.
Clearly, KCR is preparing the ground to offer the party as a challenger to the BJP and threw the gauntlet to PM Narendra Modi through himself. The Telangana leader has now set his sights on Delhi, where he is known for his perseverance and clarity of purpose.
KCR's choice of farmers' issues as its key thrust area sends a message to those in the agricultural and farm sector that the party acknowledges their troubles. The party is promoting the 'Ryuthu Bandhu' (Farmer's friend) program that the Telangana government implemented for farmers.
Farmers, farm workers, and others associated with the sector make up a large segment of the population in a country where 60% of the population depends on agriculture. His Kisan Cell Chief claims that the Telangana model is appreciated in other states.
