BRS Predicted to Win Jubilee Hills Bypoll as Surveys Indicate Strong Lead
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) appears set to retain the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency, with the latest pre-poll survey by Chanakya Strategies projecting a comfortable 5–8% victory margin for its candidate, Maganti Sunitha. The survey reinforces earlier predictions by multiple agencies that the BRS remains the frontrunner in the upcoming by-election.
According to the findings, BRS is expected to secure around 43% of the vote share, compared to 38% for the Congress and 10% for the BJP, with other parties accounting for 9%. The report attributes the BRS advantage to public disillusionment with the Congress government’s performance, unfulfilled promises, and the enduring influence of late MLA Maganti Gopinath, whose developmental work continues to resonate with voters.
The bypoll was necessitated by Gopinath’s sudden demise. His widow, Maganti Sunitha, has been fielded by the BRS, a move that has struck an emotional chord with the constituency’s sizable Kamma community and other loyal supporters.
The survey also reveals that 63% of respondents rated the Congress government’s performance as “poor,” citing issues like the controversial HYDRAA demolitions and incomplete welfare schemes. Anti-incumbency and dissatisfaction with the Congress’ “six guarantees” have further dented its image, with voters reportedly disheartened by unfulfilled housing and employment promises.
Meanwhile, Congress candidate Naveen Yadav is struggling to consolidate BC and minority votes, while BJP’s Deepak Reddy is expected to remain in third place with about 10% support. Notably, older voters above 30 years continue to lean heavily toward BRS, while first-time voters show moderate support for Congress.
With growing anti-establishment sentiment and BRS’ early campaign lead, the survey concludes that Maganti Sunitha enjoys a clear advantage heading into the November by-election.
