BRS prepares statewide celebrations for Deeksha Diwas on November 29
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is gearing up for large-scale celebrations across Telangana on November 29 as part of Deeksha Diwas, a significant day marking the historic fast-unto-death undertaken by party founder and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) in 2009. This landmark protest, which stretched for days despite deteriorating health conditions, ignited public sentiment and played a key role in energising the Telangana statehood movement — ultimately leading to the formation of India’s 29th state in 2014.
To commemorate this pivotal moment in history, elaborate preparations are underway in all 33 districts of Telangana. Party workers are decorating BRS offices with pink flags, banners, and massive cut-outs of KCR. Bike rallies, cultural presentations, exhibitions, and public meetings have been scheduled, reflecting the pride and emotional connection that the people of Telangana feel toward the struggle for statehood.
A major public gathering will take place at Telangana Bhavan, where senior BRS leaders and district representatives will address thousands of attendees. The events will also highlight the sacrifices made by activists and students during the Telangana agitation, including tributes to those who lost their lives fighting for a separate state.
Deeksha Diwas is expected to serve as not only a remembrance event but also an opportunity for BRS to reinforce party unity, strengthen grassroots support, and mobilize the cadre ahead of future political battles. The anniversary symbolizes resilience, sacrifice, and a reminder of the movement that transformed political history.
As Telangana continues to evolve, the commemoration of KCR’s hunger strike remains a powerful reminder of the emotional and political journey that shaped the identity of the state and its people.
