Washington: On the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken offered heartfelt congratulations and praised the strengthening relationship between the United States and India. In his statement, Blinken emphasized the celebration of India’s rich and diverse history and the burgeoning partnership between the two nations.
Blinken noted that US-India cooperation is expanding rapidly, driven by their shared vision for a free, open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. He highlighted that the comprehensive global and strategic partnership between the two countries is rooted in deep connections between their peoples, economies, and a mutual commitment to democracy, freedom, and human dignity.
The Secretary of State remarked on the broad scope of US-India collaboration, which spans various fields including climate and clean energy, defense, and space technologies. Blinken extended his best wishes to those celebrating Independence Day both in India and among the Indian diaspora worldwide.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the occasion by hoisting the national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi, delivering his 11th consecutive speech from this historic site. This year’s Independence Day theme, “Viksit Bharat@2047,” underscores India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by its centennial of independence.
