CM N Chandrababu Naidu Advocates for Greener Andhra Pradesh at Vana Mahotsavam
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called on citizens to plant and nurture at least two saplings annually to foster a greener environment. Speaking at the Vana Mahotsavam event held at Mangalagiri Ecopark on Friday, Naidu, joined by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, and others, stressed the vital role of trees in environmental sustainability.
Naidu underscored the goal of increasing the State’s green cover to 50%, a vision shared by Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. He highlighted the importance of the Forest and MNREGA departments, led by Kalyan, and proposed launching additional initiatives in collaboration with these departments. Naidu also unveiled plans to develop ‘Nagara Vanams’ (urban forests) in every Assembly constituency.
The CM criticised the previous YSRC government for environmental damage, accusing them of causing the destruction of rivers, tanks, and hills like Ravvalkonda.
Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, speaking at the event, advocated for the Miyawaki method to expand forests efficiently and at minimal cost. He expressed his deep commitment to environmental conservation, emphasizing the ambitious goal of planting 1 crore saplings across the state. Kalyan also criticised the YSRC for uprooting trees and urged citizens to take proactive steps in raising the state’s green cover from 29% to 50%.
