CPI welcomes CM KCR's takeover of Vizag Steel Plant.
The decision by the Telangana government to submit an EOI for the acquisition of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) in Andhra Pradesh was met with approval by CPI National Secretary K Narayana.
With State Secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, Narayana praised Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's decision to acquire VSP via Singareni Collieries Company Limited at a press conference held here on Monday. (SCCL). The CM's choice to assume control of the VSP was the correct one. It would be disastrous for the country if the company were sold to a multinational corporation like the Adani Group. Our gratitude goes out to the Chief Minister, as Narayana put it.
He assured Telangana that his party would back its bid to assume control of VSP.
He pledged that the CPI would do everything possible to assist the Telangana government in getting VSP back on track. The senior CPI leader claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was introducing the Vande Bharat trains, not for the benefit of the people of India but to sell them to corporate giants, accusing the BJP-led government at the Centre of handing over all public sector units to a few corporate bodies.
Sambasiva Rao, CPI State Secretary, said the party would launch a bus yatra and hold a massive public meeting in the first week of July to bring attention to people's problems and the failures of the Central government. This would coincide with BR Ambedkar's birthday celebrations on April 14.
The padayatra aims to save the country's secular fabric and democracy by informing the public about the importance of defeating the communal BJP. Sambasiva Rao has promised to address problems experienced by Telangana's people.
