Canadian Police Arrest Three Indians Allegedly Involved in Killing of Pro-Khalistan Activist
Three Indian were arrested by Canadian police on Friday for their alleged involvement in the killing of Canadian citizen and pro-Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey last year, as per CTV News. The accused, identified as Kamalpreet Singh, Karanpreet Singh, and Karan Brar, face charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy in the Nijjar case, documents filed in a Surrey court revealed. They were arrested in operations spanning two provinces – Alberta and Ontario.
According to CBC News, the arrested individuals arrived in Canada on temporary visas after 2021, with none pursuing education or obtaining permanent residency. They are alleged associates of a criminal group in Punjab & Haryana linked to Punjabi Lawrence Bishnoi.
Globe News cited police sources indicating that the suspects may have been operating under the direction of Indian intelligence during the assassination. The hit squad allegedly played various roles as shooters, drivers, and spotters on the day of Nijjar's killing at the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police are expected to disclose details of their investigation later on Friday, following the arrests, as per a senior government source cited by CTV News.
