Case registered over morphed videos on Chiranjeevi
Police in Hyderabad registered a case against a YouTube channel accused of spreading morphed videos and false information targeting veteran actor Chiranjeevi.
The complaint was filed by advocate Ramakrishna Miryala, who alleged that the channel uploaded edited photographs and manipulated videos capable of damaging the actor’s reputation. According to reports, the advocate submitted screenshots and video clips as evidence to support his complaint.
Following permission from a local court, the Jubilee Hills Police officially registered a case and began an investigation into the matter. The police are expected to examine the digital content, identify those responsible, and determine whether laws related to defamation, misinformation, and online harassment were violated. The incident highlights growing concerns about the misuse of social media platforms and YouTube channels to circulate fake or manipulated content involving celebrities and public figures.
Morphed videos and edited images can quickly spread online, causing reputational damage and misleading audiences. Authorities are increasingly taking legal action against such activities to prevent the spread of misinformation. The case involving Chiranjeevi has attracted attention from both fans and the entertainment industry, with many supporting stricter action against fake online content creators.
