Central Government Approves AIIMS For Telangana and Tamilnadu
The Union cabinet on monday approved setting up of 2 new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Madurai, Tamil Nadu, at a price of Rs 1,264 crore and at Bibinagar, Telangana, at a price of Rs 1,028 crore.
An official releae same that AIIMS are established underneath the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
It same that each new AIIMS can add 100 UG (MBBS) seats and 60 B.Sc (Nursing) seats, can have 15-20 super specialty departments and around 750 hospital beds. Each of the new AIIMS would cater to around 1,500 outside patients per day and around 1,000 indoor patients per month.
The setting up of latest AIIMS involves creation of hospital, teaching blocks for medical and nursing courses, residential complex and allied facilities/ services, broadly speaking on the pattern of AIIMS, New Delhi and alternative six new AIIMS obsessed underneath Phase-I of the PMSSY.
The release aforesaid that the target is to ascertain the new AIIMS as establishments of National Importance for providing quality tertiary health care, medical education, nursing education and research within the Region.
“The timeframe for establishing the new AIIMS-Tamil Nadu and AIIMS-Telangana are 45 months, generally comprising a pre-construction section of 10 months, a construction section of 32 months and stabilization/ authorisation section of 3 months.
Cost of construction and running of the new AIIMS would be met by the Central government underneath the PMSSY.
The PMSSY aims at correcting the imbalances within the accessibility of cheap tertiary health care facilities in several elements of the country and augmenting facilities for quality medical education within the under-served states.
AIIMS in state was proclaimed in the Budget speech in 2015-16 and also the Finance Ministry had sent its in-principle approval for institution of AIIMS in Telangana in Apr 2018.
